Burglars (not the band)

Darach's house in Seattle

Last week while in Seattle, we stayed with our friend Darach at this house he’s subletting in for the summer. It’s in the U District, the student neighborhood for the University of Washington, one street over from frat row. It was a nice night, so I climbed onto that third-story fire escape thing to record myself whistling.

As I started, I watched two young guys walk by in front of the house. They stopped a few houses down, punched through the window of an SUV, grabbed something out of the front seat as the alarm started going, and then walked back in front of me with whatever it was tucked under one guy’s shirt.

I held my breath hoping they wouldn’t see me sitting up there in a bright yellow shirt. As soon as they were out of sight I hopped back through the window.

    Did you notify the authorities?

I was advised against it, plus didn’t have internet to know what number to call (because 911 from a cell phone usually reroutes to the wrong place, right? or is that just Davis?). Is that awful?

The whistling at the beginning really adds to this.
